THE INBOARD MANIFOLD

THE INBOARD MANIFOLD INTRODUCTION

HARDWARE FEATURES

The PHIBER Inboard FWF Manifold is a proprietary plumbing configuration that transforms a “wet” or “complex” raw water networks such as those on diesel propulsion engines, generators and large gyro stabilizers to include safe and correct freshwater flushing as an intrinsic function.

The Manifold is comprised of two unique components that operate using only simple physics, eliminating the need for complexity:

  • Raw Water Swing
  • Check Balancing Tee

All PHIBER components for the FWF Manifold are constructed using the highest quality materials, including 316 Stainless Steel, allowing universal installation into ANY marine system.

FUNCTIONAL OVERVIEW

Wet and/or complex raw water circuits must be flushed while they are active and the raw water pump is operating, preserving the circuit with fresh water upon shutdown. The Manifold is installed directly into a raw water network and operates in concert with a properly-sized Hydrostatic Lock.

During a freshwater flush cycle, the Primary FWF Gate receives a signal from the PHIBER Control Module to engage, allowing pressurized fresh water to flow through the Hydrostatic Lock and toward the FWF Manifold. The Manifold then directs the incoming freshwater flow into the ACTIVE raw water network, displacing the seawater and “pickling” the network with CLEAN fresh water before the system is shut down.

There are two modes of operation for each Manifold:

  • PASSIVE – the Manifold responds to suction

When a Manifold is correctly configured and properly installed between a vessel’s freshwater and raw water networks, its native operating state is passive, which means that the raw water network functions normally and seawater flows freely in direct response to the demands (suction) of the raw water pump.

  • REACTIVE – the Manifold responds to pressure

PROTECTIONS

The design of the FWF Manifold preserves the integrity of the raw water system it serves, INCLUDING the pumps and their impellers by enabling them to operate normally.

The PHIBER Manifold does NOT alter the water flow or design integrity of the raw water network it serves. The Manifold design can never starve the raw water network of critical water flow, and the raw water pump function and all associated components are protected.
